To be honest, I was really looking forward to this year's 6 nations as I thought Scotland might prove the dark horse, but after a great 1st game against the French, a woeful display against the average Welsh, who didn't have to do much to win.
Against France: 3 tries! Scotland never seem to score those. In fact, when you look at the game, France scored off of Scottish mistakes & silly mistakes at that. Granted Harinordiquoy's try was special, & France in that form could've beaten anyone, but Scotland did stay in touch for most of the game, and if i can rant a bit, felt that the penalty try at the scrum was harsh - 3rd so called infringement @ scrum, when it was the french tighthead losing his footing that brought the scrum down! Still, that first half French forwards gave the Scots a doing, but started to look better in the 2nd half (Euan Murray is off his game, shouldn't be starting).

Against Wales: Sean Lamont played decent... think Max Evans & Riche Vernon were ok... everyone else was shite! Purely down to the players not turning up? Or did Robinson miss an opportunity to play Ruaridh Jackson (youngster with talent, needs careful management, strange how Scots talent takes so much longer to develop), the sooner we can get rid of Parks the better, but when you have no depth, beggars can't be choosers.
Think Scotland will beat Italy, just, perform well against the Sassenachs but lose, and In reckon the Ireland game is 50/50 - hey, I have to hope :) Ultimately though, I think this 6 nations has proven to be a false dawn for Scotland, who arguably beat New Zealand when it comes to poor timing of form during RWC years.

Like you, I thought the Scots would be a tough side to beat. A team that would need to do well in this comp to build some confidence and momentum.. hopefully they can improve? The days when Gavin Hastings was still playing, they did very well in the world cup, oh those were the days?

Haha, aye big Gav was the dude :) just had a wee moment reminiscing about old school rugby, pre-professionalism, when men went on tour to play, drink, meet friends, drink, those awesome provincial team vs national team match-ups!

Scotland need to ensure that their forwards turn up to every match, they can't afford for them to go to sleep as the big boys will blow them away. The backline needs tweaking in my opinion, I'd always start Sean Lamont (& Rory, if he can just stop getting injured), Max Evans, Jo Ansbro, Kellock, Barclay & Beattie, and Hugo Southwell. Chris Cusiter is a big loss, don't rate Mike Blair as highly, his brother though is handy to have at flyhalf, ditch Parks, try & bring Ruaridh Jackson on more, ditch De Luca who always kak's it at international level. There is a good centre, Alex Grove, who I watched against Northampton & he looked the business, but for some reason isn't getting game time?
We've got decent enough depth at lock & lossies (not earth-shattering but good enough), but everywhere else looks sparse, unless we can get a lot of guys back from injury. No game-breakers though!
